Satsuma @ Cineleisure
Written by admin
Cineleisure just opened in Mutiara Damansara, PJ. It mainly consists of Cathay Cineplexes, a bowling alley and an assortment of shops and restaurants. My sisters and I decided to check out Satsuma which is a Japanese Shabu Shabu restaurant.

Shabu shabu is Japanese style steamboat. According to Wikipedia :
The dish is prepared by submerging a very thin slice of meat or a piece of vegetable in a pot of boiling water or dashi (broth) made with kombu (kelp) and swishing it back and forth several times. (The familiar swishing sound is where the dish gets its name. Shabu-shabu roughly translates to "swish-swish".) Cooked meat and vegetables are usually dipped in ponzu or "goma" (sesame seed) sauce before eating with a bowl of steamed white rice.
Once the meat and vegetables have been eaten, leftover water (now broth) from the pot is customarily combined with the remaining rice, and the resulting soup is usually eaten last.
Here in Satsuma, you are given the choice of four different soups which are spicy, plain, Miso soup and Sukiyaki (which is sweet). Then you can also chose what kind of set you want, whether beef, chicken, seafood or a mixture.
We had the beef set which had thinly sliced beef, udon noodles, vegetables and taufu. We also ordered the seafood set which came with prawns, crabs, fish, sotong, vegetables and taufu. Each set came with white rice and a drink.
Basically you just have to cook your own food by dropping it into the pots of boiling soup in the middle of the specially made table then eat it with the rice. You can also order fried garlic rice which goes perfect with the meat.
We spent about less than RM30 for the three of us which was pretty reasonable. I think this place is good for outings with friends, where you want to talk and chit chat because you will have to wait for some time before the food gets cooked.
